Kingshade
forestDraft
Forest of the Vesper Fields, north of the capital and at the foot of the Dawn Range.
Geography and climate
Kingshade is a stand of dense woodland between the wheat fields north of Vesper and the first slopes of the Dawn Range. To the west runs the Albar River, which comes down from the range toward the coast. It is the closest forest to the capital, half a day from its gates, and the only one in the farmland that has not been cleared for sowing.
It takes its name from the shade of its canopy, which the king claimed for himself: it is crown land. The people of the farmland may not cut wood or hunt in it without the king’s license.
